LCT for SILAB
Source code is available in our GitHub repository: https://github.com/InstituteOfErgonomics/LCTforSILAB
This project enables to drive the Lane Change Test (LCT) with a SILAB driving simulation, convert the data format and use the official tools for further analysis. LCT is a standardized tool (ISO 26022 & ISO TS 14198) to assess the distraction potential of in-vehicle tasks (esp. visual-manual interactions).
If you need a bit more background information about LCT you can have a look at the section ‘Lane Change Test (LCT)’ within: Suitability for Use while Driving — Introduction for (App) Developers.
Typically for LCT the original implementation by Stefan Mattes (Daimler AG) is used. It consists of two official tools; downloadable from ISO: http://isotc.iso.org/livelink/livelinkfunc=ll&objId=11560806&objAction=browse&viewType=1
One tool is the LCT driving task itself, that is carried out with a gaming steering wheel. The other tool is the analysis software to inspect the data and get the metrics.
ISO 26022 specifies how the track should look like, how the metrics are calculated etc. For the here presented project, the LCT tracks has been implemented with the given lane width, stroke width (and so on) in SILAB. For the position and distance of the lane change signs the the setup of the ten original tracks is used. Therefore, when the data format of the recorded data is converted with a small tool (converter), the official tools can be used to inspect the lane change trajectories and get the metrics.
The converter tool searchs all asc-files in a folder, generates a new folder with the current date (e.g. ’2016_03_07_21_21_00′) and stores all converted data and a log file (with plausbility checks). The converted files can be opened by the analysis tool.
1) drive LCT in SILAB
2) convert data
3) analysis with official tool
The LCT for SILAB track also enables to set markers (0-9 keys) to label experimental conditions. These can be used in the analysis tool.
