Dear colleagues, dear visitors,
welcome to the homepage of the Institute of Ergonomics!
The ergonomic design of products and processes is important, so we can spend our lives, our leisure activities and our working lives safe, efficient and fulfilled. Often this comes to our mind when we despair of unfavorable designed equipment or machinery, or annoyed about carelessly designed software. The well known “human error” is usually just an expression of poor ergonomic design, through which the user can be led astray. The visible changes in society, work and technology raise many new research questions. Examples are, among other factors above all the change in demographics in the developed world and the enormous potential that innovative interaction technologies involve. Technical systems will assist us increasingly and operate automatically, among many others, the automobile is a dominant example. We conduct research on these issues at the Institute of Ergonomics both anthropometric and cognitive science issues together with partners from academia and industry in international networks. We provide advice and assistance with ergonomic issues in the Ergonomie-Competenz-Netzwerk (http://www.ecn.de). Our goal is to develop new development and evaluation methods for ergonomic practice and make the interaction of the future alive.
It would please me and my staff to welcome You at our Institute.
